Antique portable ship's desk, in wood.

Wooden box, with mother-of-pearl plaque on the top, with the inscription M.D.

It has brass hinges and internal latches. 

When opened, it becomes a desk with several internal compartments, two of which appear when two hinged lids are lifted.

The desk is covered in burgundy leather with gilt details.

Contains a glass inkwell.
