The first Nettar 515/2 was born in 1933 as a cheaper alternative to the Ikonta 520/2 . The Nettars were cameras based on the Ikonta, but with simpler equipment and less features. There were several versions with different designs, different viewfinders and different formats, but with certain features in common: they were bellows cameras for 120 film; the bellows were self-extracting; and they were the most basic and cheapest of all the Zeiss Ikon bellows cameras. In reality, the Nettars were not of a much lower quality than their bigger sisters, the Ikonta, but they were equipped with cheaper lenses and shutters.
